Oshun and Yemaja

Oshun and Yemaja web.jpg

The Mothers of Water – Oshun and Yemaja. These West African Orisha are both associated with bodies of water, usually fresh running water. After they crossed the ocean with the slave populations taken to Cuba and Brazil, Yemaja especially became more associated with the sea. In this card, fresh water and salt water meet, the two Orisha arching out of the water to greet and bless each other.
