Saint Barbara

An early Christian saint, Barbara was kept in a tower by her overprotective father. After converting to Christianity in secret she had three windows set in her tower to represent the Trinity. On discovering this she was disowned by her pagan father and eventually martyred by him with a sword. Shortly afterward he was struck down by lightning. Historical sources for her life are scarce and she has been removed from the Catholic calendar in the last century for this reason. Acrylic and gold leaf on wood, (8in x 10in). COMMISSION: SOLD.
