Saint Just

St Just in RoselandAnother illustration for my book about saints, this is one of the foundations in Cornwall of Saint Just. Rather than focusing on the figure of the saint, this piece is about showing the sanctity of place. It depicts the churchyard of St. Just-in-Roseland which is tucked away near the mouth of the River Fal. It is one of two foundations of the saint alongside St Just-in-Penwith. Saint Just was one of the sons of the legendary Geraint ap Erbin and his family contained many warriors and heroes as well as a great many saints. Acrylic on canvas (15.5in x 12in)
