The Cailleach

The Cailleach is an ancient giantess/hag/crone goddess prevalent in a lot of Celtic folklore. Here she is pictured at Sliabh na Cailliege, Loughcrew, where she forms mounds by dropping giant boulders from her apron. At the forefront is a particular inscribed stone known as ‘the Hag’s Chair’.
