Saint Ia

St Ia 3 web
This plucky young saint was an Irish princess who was a new convert to Christianity and planned to go with her fellows on a mission to Cornwall. Legend tells that she missed the boat and was very downhearted until miraculously a leaf lying on the shore grew to a giant size large enough to carry her across the sea! She landed at what is now St Ives to which she gives its name. Acrylic on canvas (16in x 20in).
